ESB 1.5mm Replica Suit

Back in 2010 i decided to start working on a new more accurate ESB build. This was to be as close to the originals as I could manage.

Here is how the armour was after 5 hours of trimming..

I had help building the lid from StukaTrooper and here it is. This is the best looking helmet I've had yet..

The suit needed to be painted and after a weekend of good company with stukatrooper and dodging the rain and Pete trying to burn down the kitchen it turned out like this..

I loved making the helmet look like an original by painting a fake hdpe green colour under the top white coat, this picture is my fav after taking away the masking fliud used to give it the chipped look..

Ok biceps, shins and thighs have their strapping glued in.

Here is the completed Empire Strikes Back stormtrooper helmet. This is the best replica helmet i have built yet, and am very pleased with the results.

Ok this helmet has had 4 coats of paint, grey primer, a green for the hdpe effect; inside and out, white primer and then white gloss. It has plenty of chipped paint, a little glue here and there and will be weathered.

The helmet is finished using Keith's hovi mic tips, flat green lens, TK 4510 decals and the inside has the star shaped foam liner and elastic chin strap

Ok take a look at the internal strapping as was seen on the original stormtroopers back in 1977 :shock:

After a little suttle weathering..

These pics are on my iPhone and the weathering is not as dark as this in reality.

I've added the ammo pack to the thigh, glued on the belt rivet covers and painted a few rivet heads white.
I've also been doing a little weathering as the SW universe was always meant to look used.

I went crazy in the weathering department and even jumped on the completed torso and cracked the body armour in several places where it was strapped just like the originals..

I also wanted to recreate a suit in particualr that had been rapaired on set just like a suit that can be seen in the SW Holiday Special from 1978!

Sadly i never got to fully finish or wear the suit and sold it soon after making the main torso, arms and legs so we may never get to see what this would be like, oh well there always another build close on the horizon..

Thats a shame ..this was looking sweet! However...i will surely use this thread as reference for when i build a display ESB suit! great work as always Mark!

Shame ya never got to finish it Mark... would have looked stunning!
