| Hi guys I just saw the rpf thread about this helmet, from the images and back stories I think I like everything about it. I want to hear your opinions about this helmet line, and I think its worth to dig a bit more about it So...is this the ultimate Hero? What makes you support it and what's not? Etc What I hate.....is a bloke like me doesn't stand a chance to get it | |

| Well... it's a first in fandom, right. From the looks of it, it has what it takes.
Are they going fiberglass construction or actually vac-formed construction? They took the original apart to mold it on the inside, which would only make sense for vac-forming.
Hope it is somewhat affordable.

| It's going to be vac formed, and it's going to be reasonably priced as well. | |

| Awesome. The pictures so far have just been cool. Nice to see the screen helmet identification and mold-fabrication presented so openly.
I've heard news about the stand being big like with the Vader. Really hope it would be possible to get these helmets without, as that is sure to pull up the price a bit - not only in materials, but in shipping costs as well.

| But no news on how much its going to produced? Exciting, hope the quality is as good as the prototype,I never heard on efx vader legend ed. goes on the production quality though,is it good? And looks like the grey is not using humbrol #5 on the stormtrooper prototype,is #5 not the correct one? If so what was it? I began like a reporter here Oh and the plastic is quite too glossy was it? | |

| I think it's been mentioned that the prototype wasn't the right sheen plastic, but that the production pieces will be the right type of ABS.
Interesting to hear about the grey color. Wonder what it is myself.

| I only rad keith post about the grey on the rpf,so I can only assume that its not the #5,from the photos it also looks dull and not too glossy like #5 I also like the disassembly picture, and you're right about the mic tips, what a nipple :D So glad that the original is in great shape! | |

| Indeed the Humbrol #5 is pretty inaccurate; too dark AFAIK the closest paint to the original we have is Testors 1138. | |

| Yeah, I heard that before. But, was Testors available when the originals were painted? | |

| Oh... I was more thinking whether the prop guys painting the helmets had Testors available to them. From my understanding it's a US based paint on special import, right? | |

I think it's very likely that the "little pots of modelling paint" which the interviewee from the props department referred too were Humbrol. It was and still is pretty much the standard brand in every model shop in the UK. The whole thing has been the subject of a lot of guess work and rumour though, especially the question of the exact shade / colour reference. It's too easy to get bogged down with what's the correct reference/correct number or whatever when nobody really knows. Certain shades might have been discontinued, recipes changed etc. Too many variables and possibilities to make it that important. When I got round to painting my ab buttons I ignored both the standard Humbrol references and just chose something that looked about right from the Revel range - simply because that's the brand stocked at my local store.

| Maybe they have spray paint them whit Humbrol, whit a paint gun . You know like when they paint big boats, cars etc... I think they did a lot of that back in the days, and not so much whit smaller hand spray cans etc. You can easy thin up the humbrol, so i could be painted on. I know Humbrol have made some of the colors as spray paint as well, and i have seen them here in Denmark as different shades of white as well. But i guess they was not around way back in the mid 70´
I got a question: 1. What is the- eFX Legend Hero Stormtrooper Helmet, is it a new found ANH Hero helmet. 2. Who is the owner, and where is he from. 3. Where did he get it. 4. Is he a fan him self, and will make molds- pulls/run out of it, if so... when etc.

| From what I've gathered Rolf, I'd dare to try to give my opinions on your questions.
1. It's not a new found helmet, it's been in a private archive for many many years, the only known hero helmet to exist other than one in the LFL archives. 2. Don't know. Probably a secret anyway. 3. Probably also a secret, or at least not publicly available info. 4. No idea, but I find that highly unlikely since he's probably already getting a nice kick-back from eFX from the sales of the legend helmets.

| I am partially excited about this.
Meaning that yeah, it is awesome to see this project take place, specially with the "backstage" pictures of the process...
But then, I am not so excited cause... I wont be buying this for sure. Based on the price and availability of their Vader, it wont be in my money league.
Anyway... I don't know.
For me, I am more into the prop building hobby than into collecting. So, I think I would anyway spend my money on a piece like this, if it came like a kit, pulled in kakhi HDPE with ABS ears and all the lineage and detailing this seems to have.
Now that would be something awesome...
But then again, talking about me, there is the si-man helmet, and I don´t see myself getting one too soon. HEHEHE...
I think what REALLY excites me about this project, is having these pictures with the reference and details of the unassembled helmet and hovi's. That is AWESOME!!!

That would be inaccurate to a hero helmet that were made entirely in ABS.

| Well, they could always use the original MR scan... though I guess that would be better for fiberglass helmets.
Since the stunts are painted white and prone to flaking and not white ABS I doubt anyone would want to take one apart. TE and co. were bold when they took apart the Brian R helmet for molding.
However, if eFX could make a deal with SiMan and co. they could probably offer a stunt with exceptional lineage!? That's the only other original helmet that I know has been taken apart. Even the JJ helmet is afaik, still assembled with the rivets at the ears - which is supposedly the helmet that MR scanned.

| The Propstore helmet has been taken apart I think.I remember hearing the rivets are new.Thats the one that appears to be sanded for some reason.
