| 1mm vs 1.5mm ABS. Which is more accurate for ANH? Any help on this would be great! | |

| AFAIK 1mm flexes a bit more like the ANH originals did. | |

So is that why people are choosing it due to the more accurate flexing? Looking at the ruler 1mm vs 1.5mm seems like such a small difference!

| 0.5mm makes wuite a difference when it's the thickness of plastic we're talking about. 2mm suits are very rigid. 1mm material is very flexible and is indeed the same thickness as the original suits. 1.5mm I imagine is still quite flexibel whilst giving you a bit more strength. Maybe a good compromise if you want something quite flexible but a bit more durable for trooping. | |

| I would go for the 1mm as even that .5 of a millimeter makes a difference to the flex and the way it acts. | |

| With the 1mm you really can get this clasic look without even trying.Plus if the suit is strapped as the originals their is no getting away from it,fantastic. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| LOL ,Michael hes just a regular guy on a 1970 diet, its the chest plate that is flexing from the neck to the fixings on the cod plate. The chest is bending so you can see right through the arm area.
This is a classic result of the 1mm material and the way they were strapped. You can also see the suit being raised above the shoulders .I bet also that the guy is having hes neck choked by the chest plate at the same time.

| Were the original suits actually 1mm thick? Has anyone actually proved this? According to a certain trooper fan the helmets and suits were made from much thicker plastic. Does anyone know how thick the Si-Man styrene is?
We formed a 1mm HIPS suit and it is seriously lightweight and flimsy, obviously it would be more sturdy in ABS...
Anyone?

| I don't know Joe, I find it hard to believe the lids are as thick as has been suggested recently. In pictures they look paper thin - and I'm sure Jez would have mentioned something about this having handled a few real helmets.
As for the armour it must be thin to act as it does, no?

| Fair points, but Paul knows his stuff more than anyone. I would love to hold one in my hands one day and see for myself but I doubt it will happen. I do know the guy who owns the stop that ship helmet in London, I will ask him and see what he says... | |
